Chain of Broken Dreams in My Afternoon-evening

A heartfelt poem of love, regret and letting go, as the Oracle of Kifuuta reflects on broken dreams, past mistakes, faith and an unfinished love.

Karolinska Elena, let me tell you now all that's on my mind,
For a love like yours is so hard to find.
I want you to be mine,
But you don't want to be mine,
Like fire and water.
Elena, when the morning sun streaks across my room,
I'm waking up from another dream of you standing at the pulpit,
And I'm on the road once again, it seems.
All that's left behind is a chain of broken dreams outside the Ekerezia compound parking.

Karolinska Elena, you turned me inside out,
You showed me what life was about.
Only you,
The only one that stole my heart away during church service.
Karolinska, you know that I love you,
Oh, how I love you.

And how I wish that love was all we'd need to live.
What a life we'd have, 'cause I've got so much to give you, Elena.
Karolinska, the pain is unbearable,
Tiring to the soul,
Drilling into fresh flesh.
I feel so sad down inside my heart
That my past sins keep us apart.
It was my fault.
My heart went east,
My soul went west.
If only I could find my way back,

To the time when problems had not yet crossed my mind,
When answers could be found in truest love,
When your magic was shining through in my arms.
But, Karolinska Elena, I must drift back
To the old position of a loner.

It's better than fighting for what I will never achieve.
Love is a misery,
The one you die for
Is dying for another.
My age needs to rest now from chasing the wild goose.
My evening has come.

There can only be you for me,
Yet I need rest more. I will discuss with my gods of Kifuuta. Jjaajja told me to look at your feet, fingers, and toes.
So, thank you
For the wonderful, estimable time together.
I can't take it for granted.
The little I got
Was ever the best, Elena.
The affair has ended.

Karolinska Elena,
But love has not.
Only you stole my heart.
Now I give my heart to the Bible you gave me and its company,
For it never leaves,
It never chooses another. It will never look at my past life and blame my present.

I loved you, Elena.
I love you, Karolinska.
I release you, Karolinska.
I rest with pain.
