Owek. Peter Charles Mayiga, Katikkiro of Buganda
You’re the man I know with a basket full of wisdom that never runs empty. I dip in once, I come out with a PhD in common sense. I dip in twice, and suddenly I’m solving problems I didn’t even have yet.
You’re a true friend and brother. You walk in like Machiavelli with a plan, Shakespeare with a pen, Plato with the questions, and Mandela with the patience — then you sit down, laugh with everyone, and remember my mother’s clan name. That’s not politics. That’s power with heart.
I was blessed to share a full platter with you once. I enjoyed the food, yes… but the real feast was the wisdom served between bites — It’s not because we’re both Mutima clan. It’s not even just because you’re my big brother. It’s because you’re authentic. No mask. No ego. Just you.
Your simplicity is steel. It’s the rock that locked your legacy, your foresight, and your staying power in place. While others chase noise, you build institutions. While others shout, you steer. Problems see you coming and politely excuse themselves.
What a man! If God was in the lab making a CPM Special Edition, He must have smiled, added extra patience, extra humor, extra balance, and said, “This one is for Buganda.”
I’ll always admire you, Big Brother. May the ancestors of Kafuluma Baale in Kyotera, Buddu cover you, lift you, and keep you strong, steady, and unshakable for many more years — no bending, no breaking, only rising.
Happy Birthday, Owek. Katikkiro!
For the clan. For Buganda. For the laugh, the lesson, and the legacy we’re all still learning from.
For the throne. For the people. For the Katikkiro who carries both with grace.
