Be the Lion, My Sons and Daughters! No Grass on Your Plate!

“This life is a jungle! And in this jungle, you have only two choices! You are either a LION or you are a GOAT! There is no in-between!”

My sons and daughters, hear the Oracle of Kifuuta! Tomorrow is a working day.

This life is a jungle! And in this jungle, you have only two choices! You are either a LION or you are a GOAT! There is no in-between!

A lion may be hungry, its stomach growling like thunder! The wind may blow dust in its eyes! The sun may burn its back! But a lion will NEVER bend its head to eat grass! Never!

It will shake its mane! It will stand! It will chase! It will chase and chase until it has meat! Because deep inside, the lion knows, "I was born for meat! Grass is not my food! Grass is food for goats!"

A goat? A goat eats anything the wind brings! Paper! Polythene! Grass! That is why a goat is always tied on a rope! That is why a goat is always for sale!

So I tell you today, with appetite: BE THE LION! BE THE LIONESS!

SO WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A LION IN THIS UGANDA OF 2026?

A LION DOESN'T JUST WORK HARD. A LION HAS A CLAW! A SKILL!

A lion does not chase anyhow! It learns! How to stalk! How to hide in grass! How to pounce on the neck! Hard work without skill is just sweating like a goat in the sun!

My sons in Kifuuta, Kyotera, don't just tell me, "Mzee, I am hustling!" I ask you, what is your claw? Can you turn garbage into charcoal? Can you turn plastic into tiles? Can you turn maize bran into animal feed? Can you fix a phone? Can you write a clean business plan? THAT is your claw! THAT is your tooth!

Two boys in Katwe and Kikoni, same hunger:

One wakes up, sits on a boda, scrolls TikTok the whole day, and calls it hustle.

Another wakes at 5 a.m., opens YouTube, and learns how to make chicken feed from bran. After 30 days, the first one is still hungry and begging for bundles. The second one has 20 farmers buying from him!

Both sweated! But only one was a lion!

A LION IS PATIENT, BUT NEVER LAZY!

Achebe told us in Things Fall Apart: Okonkwo did not become a champion by eating grass when hungry! He waited! He watched Amalinze the Cat! Then he threw him!

A lion can lie in grass for 6 hours, watching one antelope! That is not laziness! That is patience! But when the time comes, WHOOOM! It runs like thunder!

Your lesson, my child: Don't eat grass today because you are hungry and sell your land! Don't sell your machines in NJERU, sons! Don't sell your body for quick money, my daughters! Be patient! Keep building that small warehouse! Your antelope, your big contract, is coming!

A LIONESS HUNTS WITH SISTERS; SHE NEVER BEGS!

A lioness never goes to beg other animals, "Please give me meat!" No! She calls her sisters! They surround the buffalo! Together!

Buchi Emecheta told us in Joys of Motherhood: the woman who survives is the one who joins hands!

My daughters in Bukomansimbi making mango juice, stop begging men for capital! Form 5 lionesses! One brings mangoes! One brings a blender! One brings bottles! One brings a market! One brings a bicycle! Together, you bring down a buffalo: a big supermarket contract! That is appetite!

A LION HAS STANDARDS. NO GRASS, NO MATTER WHAT!

Listen to the rhythm, my children:

Even when the wind blows,

Even when the dust enters the eyes,

Even when the stomach drums, ewoolo! ewoolo!

The lion looks at fresh green grass and says, "Not for me! I was born for meat! I will chase!"

What is your grass?

Your grass is that easy money from stealing!

Your grass is that sugar mummy/daddy who says, "Leave business; I will keep you!"

Your grass is Aviator! Betting! Quick, quick!

Your grass is selling your ancestral coffee in Kifuuta to buy a Benz to impress people in Mukono and Buikwe.

The lion says, "NO! I will stay hungry, but I will stay KING!"

MY LION LAW FOR YOU TODAY, WITH APPETITE!

  • Wake up at 5 a.m. like a lion roaring, not at 10 a.m. like a goat waiting for someone to untie you!
  • Sharpen your claw every week. Learn one new skill every week!
  • Store your meat. Save 10%, even from 5,000! Dry season is coming!
  • Say NO to grass! No matter how green it looks! No matter how easy!

Jjaajja Muguluma used to tell me, "Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown!" But my sons, a goat never wears a crown! Only lions wear crowns! Only lionesses become queens!

So work hard! Chase! Chase! Let the wind blow; you chase!

Because at the end of the day, the forest does NOT remember the goat that ate grass to survive!

The forest remembers and respects the lion that chased, that roared, and conquered!

BE THE LION! BE THE LIONESS! NO GRASS ON YOUR PLATE, ONLY MEAT!
